Creative Ideas merges with Oakwood Interiors
Move will create stronger manufacturing operation

ONTARIO, Calif. — Home office and home entertainment specialist Creative Ideas is merging with case goods manufacturer Oakwood Interiors, the companies announced Monday.
They said the merger will combine Creative Ideas’ manufacturing strengths in midpriced to high-end home office and entertainment to Oakwood’s presence as a bedroom manufacturer in the same price point range.
Creative Ideas will relocate its manufacturing from Corona, Calif., to Ontario, Calif., where Oakwood has a 200,000-square-foot plant. The companies said the move would create a stronger manufacturing operation and also improve efficiencies in distribution.
“I believe in the strength and dedication of our associates,” said Oakwood Interiors CEO Nick Lanphier in a statement. “We have been producing high quality bedroom furniture in the United States for over 20 years. The combination of these two product lines will ensure that we will be doing so for another 20.”
The companies will showcase their combined product line for the first time next week in Las Vegas in the World Market Center, space 1001.
Creative Ideas CEO Steve Balsamo said he was excited about that prospect, as well as future opportunities for the merged companies.
“Creative Ideas’ product line of home/office furniture has led the home office industry from its inception 27 years ago,” he said in a statement. “Combining our operations will lead to greater efficiencies and enhanced value for our customers.”
Both companies have built their success over the years as domestic producers, although Oakwood has an import division, which it started two years ago with the purchase of the Alan Morgan line of bedroom furniture.
