1st Oldham La-Z-Boy store opens in SoHo

Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, January 22, 2006

The first dedicated retail store for the popular Todd Oldham by La-Z-Boy collection has opened in this city's SoHo neighborhood.

The 2,720-square-foot store, owned by La-Z-Boy, includes upholstery, textiles, occasional tables, entertainment furniture, rugs, lamps and other accessories from the Oldham collection.

"This store will broaden the collection's reach and symbolizes the next step in the strong partnership La-Z-Boy has formed with Todd Oldham," said Kurt Darrow, La-Z-Boy's president and CEO.

Darrow said the collection's "breadth and urban look has been very successful in reaching a new audience and continuing to give customers a fashion-forward look from La-Z-Boy."

Oldham, who is based in New York, said the city is "the perfect place" for the first store "because the collection truly speaks to the modern design tastes and unique space challenges of New Yorkers. It has been a dream of mine to open a Todd Oldham by La-Z-Boy store that would showcase the collection's distinct style, depth and versatility."

In addition to the exclusive accessories and home furnishings, the store offers next-day delivery on selected upholstery pieces.

La-Z-Boy introduced its first Oldham pieces in October 2003 and has expanded the collection several times.

The company didn't say how many additional Todd Oldham retail stores might open.
