Sleep Country Canada closes on acquisition of Dormez-Vous

Montreal — Sleep Country Canada has completed its acquisition of Dormez-Vous Sleep Centers.
The publicly held retailer said last month it had agreed to acquire the five-store chain, one of metro Montreal largest specialty mattress retailers.
Dormez-Vous retains its name and management, including founder Stewart Schaefer, who said the deal will allow the chain to expand in Quebec.
The acquisition marks an eastward expansion for Sleep Country Canada, which had sales of C$162.5 million in the first nine months of 2005, up 12.1% from the same period a year earlier.
