Fiamma unveiling stationary, motion leather

Las Vegas — Fiamma Leather, the newly created U.S. sales and marketing arm of a major Chinese leather upholstery maker, is unveiling stationary and motion leather here this week.
Fiamma, a wholly owned subsidiary of Man Wah Holdings, a 13-year-old publicly traded Chinese leather seating producer, is showing in 11,500 square feet in the World Market Center, space 146.
Until now, the company has sold in the United States only through wholesale importers. This market marks the debut of the U.S. brand name.
"Although motion has been our strongest category, we have a full line of leather upholstery, include stationary, recliners, sectionals and also home theater," said J.B. Ricci, the Houston-based director of sales and marketing for the container-direct line. "Most of our stationary pieces are available in motion, too; there is an overlapping of styles."
The Fiamma line encompasses contemporary, transitional, traditional and wood-trimmed looks. Correlating occasional tables are under consideration for the future, Ricci said.
Employing Italian cowhides assembled in China, Fiamma also offers bycast leather options.
"We produce an outstanding product using quality materials, such as genuine foam, in-house," Ricci said. Fiamma's hardwood frames use no-sag spring and webbing suspension systems.
Retail pricing for a stationary sofa averages $699 for all-leather and $499 for leather-match, he said.
In conjunction with the debut, Fiamma is offering retail buyers coupons for a $1,000 discount on an initial container purchase, Ricci said.
The company has a 1-million-square-foot production facility in Shenzhen. In anticipation of significant U.S. business, construction has begun on a second 2.5-million-square-foot facility in nearby Huizhou, to be completed this summer.
A portion of the new additional space will be subleased to Leggett & Platt, a supplier of mechanisms to Man Wah's motion, home theater and sleeper products.
Man Wah Holdings was the first furniture manufacturer in China to be listed on the Singapore stock exchange, Ricci said. It has developed diverse global distribution channels, including OEM, wholesale and retail sales. Its upholstery is sold in the United Kingdom (under the Cheers brand), elsewhere in Europe, and in Asia and Australia.
