Futon group giving away prizes to Vegas buyers

Las Vegas — The Futon Assn. International is giving away prizes to buyers who attend its show here this week to thank and reward them for checking out the futon category.
The FAI, based in Orlando, Fla., has mailed tickets for the prize giveaways to stores and to past show attendees. It also mailed tickets to manufacturers, distributors and sales representatives to distribute to their customers.
"Retailers who have received tickets are very excited about the program and are eagerly looking forward to the show," said Brian Donohoo, FAI president.
"I believe the excitement will bring many buyers to the Futon Expo and Specialty Sleep Show," he continued. "Once we get them there, they will see how fashionable and functional futon products are today."
The futon show is in Pavilion 1 of the World Market Center complex. Buyers can bring their tickets for the prize giveaways to the FAI booth, space 7001, during show hours.
Contest winners will be selected from all eligible entries received. Prizes include a home theater system, an iPod and movie passes.
Donohoo said the FAI is excited to be showing again in Las Vegas.
"The July show was tremendous, and was an experience that will not soon be forgotten," he said.
He also is president of Strata Furniture, a futon producer showing here in the FAI's show area, in space 7105.
FAI, again hosting a show-within-a-show in Las Vegas, leased 20,000 square feet of space from the WMC for its exhibitors. It is in the same area as it was in July.
What's new this market is that the Specialty Sleep Assn. is exhibiting in a space right next to the FAI exhibitors, a more convenient location for buyers, according to Donohoo.
He said FAI members were so pleased by the results of the July market here that some exhibitors signed leases for January the week after the July show ended.
