Lexington hires Austin, Myers for upholstery posts
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 29, 2006
Lexington, N.C. — Lexington Home Brands has hired upholstery industry veterans Stephanie Austin and Bob Myers to help raise the profile of its branded product.
Austin, formerly with Century Furniture, has been named fabric merchandising manager, replacing Nadine Andrews, who recently joined Broyhill.
Myers, formerly of JCH Home Furnishings in Shanghai, China, has been hired in the new position of upholstery project manager. Myers also was previously with Jackson Furniture Inds. and Berkline.
Austin and Myers will work under the leadership of Lexington's design specialist, Todd Banik, vice president of merchandising and product development. President and CEO Bob Stec said, "With the talent we now have on board, we're able to tell the lifestyle story of each brand in a more complete way."
The company's brands include Bob Timberlake, Liz Claiborne Home, Nautica, Palmer Home, Tommy Bahama Home, Waverly and Woolrich, as well as its house brands, Lexington and Henry Link Trading Co.
Austin, based at Lexington's upholstery facility in Hildebran, N.C., will implement fabric sourcing, selection and merchandising. Myers, based in China, will supervise the sourcing, quality and training of upholstery vendors.
"Having an upholstery representative on the ground overseas enables us to enhance LHB's upholstery offerings and to keep our upholstery values in line with our case goods," said Banik. "From China — and elsewhere — we're able to source a category of upscale product with value pricing that's not feasible for us in the U.S. At the same time, we'll utilize our domestic production for the custom work they already do so well. Each source enhances the other and provides a range of value for our customers."
