HIGH POINT — US Airways said it will significantly boost its capacity for flights to and from the Piedmont Triad International Airport during the April High Point furniture market.
The airline said it will add flights and use larger aircraft on routes between the High Point-area airport and Charlotte, N.C., New York (LaGuardia), Philadelphia and Washington (National).
In most instances, the number of available seats will increase by at least 20% between April 23 and May 4. The market officially runs from April 27 to May 3.
For example, a US Airways spokesman said 9,832 seats will be available on flights between Greensboro and Charlotte the week of April 23 — 24% more than the 7,942 seats available in a typical week.
For flights between Greensboro and LaGuardia, 4,900 seats will be available during market week — 29% more than in a typical week — while flights between Greensboro and Washington will have a 23% capacity increase to 3,126 seats.
Flights between Greensboro and Philadelphia will have 5,662 available seats during market week, a 17% increase over a typical week, the airline said.
“We are responding to a very specific and very significant passenger demand by once again increasing our service to Greensboro,” said Andrew Nocella, senior vice president of schedule planning and alliances.
