Wiseway expands service area

Hudson, Wis. — Furniture delivery specialist Wiseway Transportation is expanding into three more states and adding a service center in Chicago.
Starting March 1, the furniture carrier will start serving Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. It now serves retailers and other clients in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, the Dakotas and Nebraska.
Marcus Cary, vice president of sales, said Wiseway will expand through the acquisition of another carrier. Because there's not yet a purchase contract, he declined to name the company.
The Chicago service center is a 10,000-square-foot facility that will consolidate shipments for customers in the three new states. Wiseway runs similar facilities in Ontario, Calif., Hudson, Wis., and Hickory, N.C.
"We pull furniture together from the various manufacturers and bring them into those buildings so we can break them down and consolidate them and ship them to retailers in those regions," said Wayne Chan, managing director.
In addition, Wiseway has started a new consolidation service this year in the Pearl River Delta region of southern China. The company will open service centers to allow small to midsized retailers to order mixed containers of product from various factories, or combine orders with other retailers from a single manufacturer.
