Henderson, Nev. — Some 125 members, vendor partners and guests of the Furniture Marketing Group got together for a three-day symposium here at the Green Valley Ranch casino and resort.
The growing buying group drew about two-thirds of its 70 retailer members for a program packed with educational sessions, best-idea swapping, an update on FMG and hot deals presented by some 30 vendors.
The event wrapped up Sunday, on the eve of the Las Vegas Market just across town.
FMG Executive Director Mike Herschel updated members on the group's growing ranks and the alliance it entered last year with Nationwide Marketing Group, which helped push FMG's annual buying power to about $3 billion and its membership to 70. Herschel previously had estimated the alliance would double its buying power to about $2 billion, but he now says that was conservative.
Fourteen retailers joined FMG in the past year, including several Top 100 companies and four through Nationwide.
They are Big Sandy Superstore, Franklin Furnace, Ohio; Bullard Furniture, Fayetteville, N.C.; Fecera's Furniture, Sinking Spring, Pa.; Home Comfort Furniture, Raleigh, N.C.; Johnny Janosik, Laurel, Del.; and John V. Schultz, Erie, Pa.
Also, Lack's, Victoria, Texas; Levin Furniture, Smithton, Pa.; McMahan's Furniture, Los Angeles; Morris Furniture, Fairborn, Ohio; Rosen's Furniture, East Stroudsburg, Pa.; Smith's Furniture, Louisville, Ky.; Steinhafels, Waukesha, Wis.; and Wolf Furniture, Bellwood, Pa.
