STI realigns management, names Gibbons CEO

Kings Mountain, N.C. — Upholstery fabric producer STI has realigned its management team, naming its first CEO and a new president.
Sean Gibbons, who has been with the company for 13 years and was vice president of sales and marketing, is CEO. In addition to his new responsibilities, he will continue to lead the company's national sales team and direct new business development.
John Kay has been promoted to president, succeeding Jim Brown II, who is retiring after 21 years with the company. Kay, who has been with STI for 11 years, had been vice president of product development and marketing manager, and will keep those duties in addition to his new responsibilities.
Mark Hovis, a 19-year STI veteran, has been given broader responsibilities and promoted to chief operating officer, a new position. He had been vice president of operations.
Greg Sellers, chief financial officer, also has been given broader management responsibilities. Designer Glen Read, who has been working with the company on a royalty basis, has been named to the new position of design director.
