Kane's adds 18th unit
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 19, 2006
Lakeland, Fla. — Top 100 chain Kane's Furniture has opened a 60,000-square-foot store here on U.S. Highway 98 North. The unit includes a warehouse and office space.
This is the 18th store for the central Florida, Pinellas Park-based Kane's, and its first in Polk County.
"We are very excited to have this beautiful new store to bridge the gap between our Orlando and Tampa/Brandon markets," said Chief Operating Officer Steve Giordano. "Lakeland is already the home to many fine furniture retailers, and we believe we will successfully compete for our share of the business."
Carlos Gonzalez will move from Kane's Casselberry store, near Orlando, to manage the Lakeland unit. Fifty associates will help operate the new store.
Kane's sells a broad range of midpriced furniture, both domestically made and imported from the Philippines, Taiwan, Italy, Canada and China.
The 57-year-old retailer serves eight major Florida markets — Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Port Charlotte, Ocala, Melbourne, Fort Myers and Orlando. Kane's ranks No. 38 on Furniture/Today's list of Top 100 furniture stores, with estimated 2004 sales of $185.5 million.
