Reid to consult on marketing
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 19, 2006
Kernersville, N.C. — Advertising, marketing and public relations veteran Raymond Reid is returning to the home furnishings industry as a marketing communications consultant.
Reid ran ad agency R.L. Reid & Co., which handled a number of industry accounts, before he sold it in 1998 to devote more time to fine art and writing.
He plans to continue that activity as he starts his new firm, R. Reid Ltd.
He worked at other agencies before opening his own firm, and was the original art director at Furniture/Today.
In 1998, the Piedmont Triad Advertising Federation gave him the Silver Medal award for lifetime achievement, the highest honor bestowed by the American Advertising Federation.
"As more and more manufacturing goes offshore, home furnishings is becoming a marketing industry, not unlike Nike," Reid said. "My niche has always been developing creative marketing strategies that separate my clients from their competition. And it's time for me to get back into the game."
