Circuit City survey links TV purchase to furniture buys

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 13, 2006

Thirty-seven percent of respondents to a recent survey by Circuit City said they'd replace or remove their home entertainment center when purchasing a flat-screen TV.

Thirty-five percent said they'd change the layout of the room where they watch TV, and 13% said they'd buy new furniture.

Almost three-quarters (72%) reported they are somewhat or very confused about the different technologies and options available for new TVs.

In addition, two-thirds of both men and women (69% men, 65% women) said they were very interested in obtaining a flat-screen TV or wanted one "now." However, nearly 40% of respondents said they were unaware of the significant price drops on such TVs during the past year.

Nearly 5,200 men and women responded to Circuit City's "Big Game, Big Screen TV Survey," conducted online by Decision Analyst.
