Wickes architecture honored

Wheeling, Ill. — Wickes Furniture here has received an award from the village of Algonquin, Ill., for the positive impact of one of its newest stores.
The New Development Architectural Award honored the Top 100 company for the 37,000-square-foot showroom it opened in Algonquin last May. The village said the store complements the Algonquin Commons development "with size, placement, style, material and colors," the company said.
The store features a brick and glass facade and interior elements such as brushed metal, wood trim, black hardwood floors and an open floor plan.
"We are excited about this award as it further validates the new Wickes store design," said Nicole Ivey, the retailer's director of marketing and advertising.
