Sklar adds casual dining to import table program

Whitby, Ontario — Upholstery specialist Sklar Peppler has added a casual dining component to its imported table program.
Lisa Tweedy, director of corporate marketing, said four tables and five chair styles are included in the company's first foray into the category.
Retailers saw the company's first foray into the category at the Canadian Home Furnishings Market in January. Sklar also will feature the product at the High Point market in April.
"They've been designed to complement our upholstery offerings and to build on the trend we're seeing in homes that carries the living room into the dining room," she said.
"We've also had a lot of requests from retailers to do something like this. They want a smooth transition from the living to the dining room and they want to use a product they can put the Sklar brand on," Tweedy added.
All the tables have solid tops save one, which features a three-ply cherry veneer over solid maple. The chairs, which carry a suggested retail of $299, are available upholstered in fabric or leather. All the products are transitional in style.
Sklar will begin shipping in May.
The company has been importing occasional tables for a few years and last year added an entertainment center called the Moduwall.
