Powell plans Payne visits

Culver City, Calif. — Importer Powell Co. is offering dealers a chance to take part in a promotion to support the company's furniture collections by designer Michael Payne.

Payne, host of TV's "Designing for the Sexes," will visit stores that have agreed to participate in Powell's Red Carpet event. Each store will develop its own event, with the help of custom TV commercials, store event ideas and sample publicity copy. Payne's book, "Let's Ask Michael," and sales training materials also are available.

Participating stores so far include Kane's in Lakeland, Fla., Orr's Furniture City in Clay Center, Kan., Knight Furniture in Sherman, Texas, and The Vineyard Manor in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
