South Dakota furniture retailer's gift helps children's hospital

The new Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A bronze sculpture in front of the new Sanford Children's Hospital here is part of a $250,000 gift to the hospital by South Dakota Furniture Mart founder and CEO Bill Hinks and his wife, Carolyn Hinks.

The sculpture depicts businessman and philanthropist Denny Sanford, the hospital's key financial backer, and his grandchildren.

In addition to sponsoring the sculpture, the Hinks donation was used to establish the Bill and Carolyn Hinks Family Endowment for Children, helping children in need. Top 100 company Furniture Outlets USA is the parent company of South Dakota Furniture Mart.
