THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Old Dominion Freight Line, a less-than-truckload carrier, has unveiled a delivery service that is available throughout the 48 contiguous states.
The company's new White Glove service involves more than 1,100 two-person delivery teams that take goods to residential, medical and retail locations, said Marty Freeman, vice president of sales.
“We are pleased to offer this new service, which ranges from basic delivery across the threshold to a more extensive service that includes unpacking, assembly and debris removal,” Freeman said.
With its highest level of service, known as OD Level 4, Old Dominion will deliver a product up two flights of stairs, unpack it, remove packing debris, and spend up to 30 minutes on assembly with a wrench and screwdriver.
Level 3 provides the same service, except that workers will devote 15 minute of assembly time without tools.
Level 2 provides for delivery up two flights of stairs and placement in the room of choice, while Level 1 is basic delivery across the threshold.
