Bob's Discount opens 34th store

Continues to build Northeast presence

WOBURN, Mass. — Bob's Discount Furniture is opening its 34th store today, a 27,000-square-foot unit on Commerce Way here that is creating 36 jobs.

The Top 100 company said its commitment to value "has enabled Bob's to continue to grow and thrive despite today's economic realities."

Manchester, Conn.-based Bob's added stores in Yonkers and Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in May and says it plans to continue expanding in the Northeast with another new location next month in Carle Place, on New York's Long Island.

In Woburn, a ribbon cutting was scheduled for today, and the grand opening event will run through the Labor Day weekend. To celebrate the opening, the retailer will make a $5,000 donation through its Bob's Outreach program to the nonprofit Woburn Boys & Girls Club.

Bob's didn't disclose sales projections for the new store.

"We are truly excited to open our new Woburn store, giving those living in and around the greater Boston area access to an extensive selection of quality furniture at everyday low prices," said Bob's President Bob Kaufman.
