Mclean, Va. — Bruce Birnbach has left his job as president of Rowe Furniture's Sourcing division, effective March 3.
The company said Birnbach, until recently president of manufacturer Rowe Furniture, planned to pursue other interests.
Birnbach joined Rowe Furniture in 1982 as a national account manager. He has held positions as assistant merchandise manager, merchandise manager and vice president of merchandising. He was president of the company from April 1999 through January of this year, when he was named to head the company's new sourcing effort.
Gerald Birnbach, Bruce Birnbach's father, continues as president of Rowe Furniture as well as chairman and president of parent company The Rowe Cos. Stefanie Lucas continues as senior vice president of Rowe Furniture responsible for marketing, sales and merchandising. Tim Fortune continues as senior vice president of Rowe Furniture, responsible for operations including human resources, IT, finance and manufacturing.
Earlier, The Rowe Cos. announced that its longtime chief financial officer, Gene S. Morphis, had resigned. His resignation followed an organizational review of the company by the Carl Marks Advisory Group, which said three of its consultants would assume interim responsibilities with Rowe Furniture. Rowe Cos. announced in November that it hired the Marks group to perform financial and management consulting.
The Rowe Cos. also owns Atlanta-based retail chain Storehouse.
