Hollandia introducing 3D bedding fabric at Las Vegas Market

Product is anti-microbial, hypoallergenic and dust mite-resistant

David Perry -- Furniture Today, September 8, 2009

LAS VEGAS — Luxury bedding producer Hollandia International is so excited about its new 3D bedding technology that it is introducing a catalog in 3D that comes with a complimentary pair of 3D glasses.

Those are elements designed to give the company's customers a complete "3D experience," officials said.

The 3D technology is a functional, three-dimensional fabric that is anti-microbial, hypo-allergenic and dust mite-resistant, the company said. It is featured on mattresses and pillows.

"The response to our breakthrough 3D technology has been very strong," said Avi Barssessat, CEO of Hollandia. "The technology delivers many health benefits that consumers want, including a cooler sleep surface that is also more hygienic, since it is machine washable."

Hollandia International, an Israeli-based company showing at the Specialty Sleep Assn. space here (World Market Center C-1350), is unveiling two new designs in its 3D collection. One is in its 3D Platinum-Luxe adjustable bed and the other is in a new frame design that is completely upholstered in the new 3D fabric.

The 3D technology is highly breathable and creates an extra layer of air between the mattress and the consumer, Barssessat said. The 3D material is soft to the touch, but durable. The core is made of naturally ventilated Talalay latex, the company said.

Both the new 3D bed and the 3D upholstered frame come in a variety of colors, including charcoal gray, khaki beige, deep brown, gold, green and white. Prices start at $2,839 in queen with a flat foundation and $6,000 in queen with an adjustable foundation. The upholstered 3D frame is available for an additional $2,600 in queen, and may be sold separately to work with other sleep sets.

The 3D technology is the latest offering by a company known for pushing the design envelope with everything from ultra-contemporary bed designs to mattresses that enclose a safe.

Hollandia offers a full line of adjustable beds with features that include a pneumatic remote control system, a back-sliding system and a Total Safety System that stops the bed's movement for safety purposes. The producer also offers a full line of sleep accessories including pillows, fitted sheets, blankets and mattress protectors.

Hollandia International has more than 120 retail stores across the world, and has retail locations in the U.S. in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida.
