WMC building 2 opening on track
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 19, 2006
Las Vegas — The final steel beam has been put in place on the World Market Center's second showroom building here, and officials said the project is still on track for a January 2007 grand opening.
Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman joined WMC officials and construction workers at the site recently for a "topping out" ceremony.
The 16-story building is fully leased to about 300 exhibitors. Furniture and bedding companies will occupy floors six through 15, and decorative accessories will be on floors three through five. The first two floors will have designer-oriented, year-round showrooms.
The top floor will house offices for building management and industry associations. It also will have a café and a 10,000-square-foot space for seminars, receptions and other events.
The 2007 winter market begins Jan. 29.
