3 Aaron's units post revenues over $3M

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 19, 2006

Last year, three of Aaron's Sales & Lease stores became what Aaron Rents calls "triple diamond" units, meaning they posted annual revenue of $3 million or more.

That's not bad considering it was just three years ago when Aaron — pushed by some store managers seeking a higher bar than $100,000 in revenues a month, or $1.2 million a year — established the "double diamond" program (for sales of $2 million).

Ken Butler, president of Aaron Rents Sales & Lease Ownership division, was skeptical because at that time, no store would have been in the club.

Last year, 37 stores were in the double diamond category, and Butler anticipates more than 60 will make it this year.

Store managers share in the profits of the company stores, and those making it into one of the diamond categories get bigger bonuses. Butler noted the manager of one of the triple diamond stores made about $250,000 last year with the bonus.
