Stanleytown, Va. — Stanley Furniture has hired Rick Lovorn as senior vice president of manufacturing, a new position.
He is responsible for all four Stanley sites, including the plant that makes Young America juvenile goods, as well as engineering.
Bob Sitler, who previously managed production, both domestic and sourced, will now focus on imported goods as vice president of global sourcing, said Glenn Prillaman, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Young America.
Lovorn is experienced in lean manufacturing practices and previously was director of manufacturing for Masco Builder Cabinet Group. Earlier, he managed two plants of a Masco subsidiary, Merillat Inds., which under his leadership won the Shingo Prize for manufacturing excellence.
At Stanley, Lovorn reports to Jeff Scheffer, chairman, CEO and president.
"As we move forward, he will focus on manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement in our factories," said Scheffer. "We are confident that his leadership will result in better quality, lower costs and improved customer service."
