Mattress Firm Texas unit is BIG

Houston — The saying "everything is big in Texas" certainly applies to the newest Mattress Firm store here, which the chain calls its "king size" location.
The major bedding retailer's 18,000-square-foot store is next to corporate headquarters, and is the largest of its 300-plus stores across the country. The company says it's also the largest bedding store in Texas.
The flagship unit is based on Mattress Firm's new SuperCenter concept, and hits new heights of service, officials said.
"Our vision was to design a store that would offer the largest selection of bedding products anywhere, as well as special features to enhance our customers sleep experience," said Steve Stagner, chief operating officer of Mattress Firm. "The result was a one-of-a-kind store that raises the bar for our industry and offers the ultimate shopping experience for consumers."
The SuperCenter store features over 60 different mattresses from Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Tempur-Pedic and Simmons. Specialty mattress and bedding products with the latest in sleep technology are on display in the Sleep Rx gallery, including pressure-relieving mattresses by Tempur-Pedic and Sealy.
The store also has a Value Center with an assortment of suitably priced models, and a Clearance Center with a variety of overstock items.
The unit combines wood flooring, ceramic tile and carpet, along with artwork, natural wood fixtures and shutters accented by a warm color palette. The idea is to create a comfortable, home-like look and feel.
The racetrack floor plan allows customers to move easily, browsing and comparing styles and brands, which are arranged by comfort level and price.
"As we enter our 20th year in business, we're excited to unveil this new flagship store in our hometown of Houston," said Stagner. "We are committed to offering the broadest, most customized selection of mattresses, as well as knowledgeable staff to educate our customers on the innovations in sleep comfort."
The store will play a big role in the company's community outreach programs, serving as a collection point for annual food, coat and toy drives. It also will host such special events as a Sleep Expo in May, with doctors on hand to offer free advice on how getting a great night's sleep.
A customer relaxation area has a robotic massage chair.
Mattress Firm, an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, operates over 300 stores in 32 markets nationwide. The retailer says it's the nation's largest specialty retailer of top-of-the-line Sealy products.
