By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 2, 2006

U.S.-based upholstery manufacturer Berkline has opened its first galleries in Canada, in two Maison Ethier stores in metro Montreal.

Both Berkline Comfort Galleries are 9,000 square feet, and carry a full line of upholstered groups, sectionals, leather and recliners.

The two Maison Ethier stores are in Saint-Basile-le-Grand and Saint-Jean-sur-Richileu. The former is 300,000 square feet and is believed to be the largest store in Canada. The latter is 100,000 square feet.

Maison Ethier, a full-line furniture and appliances retailer, carries such brands as Broyhill, Lexington, Natuzzi, Jaymar, Palliser and El Ran. The family-owned company was established in 1984, and owner Michel Ethier is president.
