Bottomley is keynoter at Mega Group meeting
By Michael J. Knell -- Furniture Today, April 9, 2006
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan — Entrepreneur and futurist Jim Bottomley will be the keynote speaker at Mega Group's annual general meeting and conference, which will be held May 11–13 at the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The conference theme is "Now is the Time."
Bottomley, a partner in the strategic planning and marketing consulting firm The Breken Group, has managed such well-known brands as Cap'n Crunch and Life cereals, and helped launch a number of other well-known products, including Kibbles 'n Bits.
His keynote topic will be "Trend Convergence: The Time is Now to Profit from the Future."
He will discuss four-dimension planning, a new marketing and sales strategy, and new thinking models that enable entrepreneurs and organizations to develop innovative plans for future success.
The conference will feature two other speakers, Linda Cahan, who will talk about "Feng Shui for Retailers," and Wade Taylor, whose educational forum will address "Taking Your Business to the Next Level with a Business Plan."
Other educational sessions include an appliance roundtable and "Ensuring Best Value for your Transportation Dollars."
"Our retail business environment is changing very quickly, and if retailers sit on the sidelines and watch it go by, they will fall behind and possibly lose the opportunity to remain competitive and successful," said Michael Graydon, president and CEO of the co-operatively owned buying group. "So, 'Now is the Time' for them to think about change in their business and about what actions might be employed to assist them.
"The meeting will focus on delivering to our retailers ideas and concepts that will add value to their business performance, and help them become more competitive in their marketplace," he said.
The three-day event will include Mega's annual general meeting and the election of new members to the board of directors, as well as closed-door sessions for members of the group's Countrywide and Multi Meubles marketing/banner programs.
The gathering will end with an optional golf day on May 14.
