Elmira, Ontario — Buying group/retailer Home Furniture has launched its first private-label furniture and bedding protection program in co-operation with Magi Seal Corp.
Called Premier Furniture Care, the exclusive program will provide the 65-unit buying group's customers with comprehensive service protection for five years against accidental stains or damage to home furnishings. The program also includes Premier Mattress Care, a line of deluxe mattress protection covers.
Both programs are managed by the London, Ontario-based Magi Seal.
"We considered a number of alternatives for our dealers and decided to partner with Magi Seal because of their comprehensive programs and well-known reputation for delivering excellent customer service," said Morgan McCabe, Home's merchandise manager for major appliances and furniture.
"We encourage our dealers to offer the care programs because of the many benefits for their customers," he said.
In addition to customer service, the program includes features such as electronic plan registration, online sales associate training and a reward system designed for Home Furniture dealers.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Home Furniture on a national basis," said Brad Geddes, Magi Seal's president. "By combining our customer service programs with our coast-to-coast sales and service representation, we believe every Home Furniture dealer will be able to build their business and their bottom line."
Currently, about 25% of Home's members have signed on to the program, with the rest expected to join before the end of the year.
"This is the first time that Home has offered a national branded program for its dealers. Previously, they were left on their own to implement a program they felt could meet their needs," Geddes said.
Developing private-label programs is part of Magi Seal's growth strategy. The company also provides protection programs for such retailers as Leon's, Brault et Martineau, La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries, Tepperman's, Bad Boy and Smitty's.
"Our focus is on offering custom service plans and programs for dealers to meet their specific needs in covering all types of furniture, including fabric, leather, wood and mattresses," Geddes said.
He said Magi Seal expects to announce several new programs with a number of national and regional merchants in coming months.
