High Point — Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Bruce Hornsby headlines a four-night lineup of free entertainment offered at next week's market here.
Hornsby, who has sold more than 10 million records since his platinum debut album in 1986, will perform April 27 in a tented pavilion in front of Showplace.
The following night, the Charlotte, N.C.-based Cookie Band will perform, and on April 29, The Carter Brothers will take the stage.
The last concert on April 30 will showcase Delbert McClinton, another Grammy winner whose songs combine country, blues, soul and rock.
All performances will begin at 7:30 p.m., rain or shine. Gates will open at 7 p.m.
The events are open to anyone with a furniture market pass, and free food and beverages will be available.
The Cookie Band is a dance band with a high-energy funk style, while the Carter Brothers blend drums and bass with Appalachian folk instruments such as the mandolin and harmonica to create a distinctive sound.
"Our objective is to showcase artists renowned for their eclectic range of musical styles," said Judy Mendenhall, outgoing president of the International Home Furnishings Market Authority.
"We want to simply entertain our market visitors ... and help them enjoy the beauty of a North Carolina spring evening," she said.
Market organizers are hoping to build on the success of the outdoor concert by the Neville Brothers at last October's market.
That event attracted about 5,000 market attendees.
