CIT Corporate Finance
New York — Finance provider CIT Group has hired Joseph F. Nemia as executive vice president and chief sales officer of its CIT Corporate Finance group.
In the newly created position, Nemia will work with leaders of the Business Capital, Diversified Industries and Global Sponsor Finance divisions to improve performance and achieve growth.
He joins CIT from GE Commercial Finance, where he spent 14 years in executive positions, most recently as senior managing director of GE Specialty Finance.
Before GE, Nemia worked in the risk and sales groups of the Bank of New York.
Earlier this year, he was elected president of the Commercial Finance Assn., a forum of financial institution executives and institutions.
The Coastal Group
New York — Ed Hershey has acquired an interest in full-service marketing agency The Coastal Group, and is president of a new retail and direct marketing division.
He founded Hershey Communications in 1983, serving retail clients such as Bloomingdale's, Dillard's and Nordstrom as well as a number of shopping centers.
AGA acquired Hershey Communications in 2001, and until recently Hershey ran the Hershey Group at AGA.
Furniture Values Internat'l
Phoenix — Furniture Values International, distributor of Aspen Furniture and aspenhome, has hired Ray Crocker as chief financial officer and vice president of finance. He also will manage and expand the company's management information services department.
He reports to Bill Colegrove, Furniture Values general manager.
Crocker has been in the industry for 25 years, most recently as CEO of Fraenkel Co., a home furnishings supplier, distributor and bedding manufacturer.
Previously, he worked in management positions at industry companies including manufacturer Ladd Furniture and finish supplier Valspar Corp.
He also has worked as a financial consultant and as a business educator at Appalachian State University in North Carolina.

The Brick Group
Edmonton, Alberta — Louie Mele has been named an independent trustee of The Brick Group Income Fund, owner of The Brick Group of full-line furniture retailers.
He has been president of McDonald's Restaurants of Canada since April 2005. Before that, he held senior executive and management posts with McDonald's in Florida, Virginia and Italy as well as Canada.
The Brick Group is one of Canada's largest retailers of household furniture, mattresses, appliances and home electronics, operating under four banners: The Brick, United Furniture Warehouse, The Brick Superstore and The Brick Mattress Store.

Intercon
Salt Lake City — Furniture manufacturer Intercon has hired Jon Ligori as office manager of its Lincoln Park, N.J., warehouse. His duties also include scheduling and planning operations for the facility, and working with the corporate office for quality, customer service and process improvement.
He reports to Lorin Pickering, director of operations.
Before joining Intercon, Ligori was a senior associate at UBS Bank.

Edelman Leather
New Milford, Conn. — Manufacturer Edelman Leather has promoted Matt Buckley to the new post of national sales manager. He reports to John Edelman, president.
Buckley had been a sales representative for Edelman for seven years.
