Dutailier unveils glider/recliner
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 23, 2006
High Point — Dutailier, the industry's best-known resource for glider rockers, is unveiling a line of recliners that employ a glider mechanism.
The five-chair lineup, called the Comfort Recliner collection, features hi-leg models with a hidden locking mechanism that prevents the chair from gliding when the footrest is open.
Dominique Godbout, vice president of marketing, said the company developed the group by combining a stylish stationary chair with the comfort of a recliner and the relaxing motion of a glider.
"Basically, consumers are looking for a motion chair that has the trendy look of a stationary chair ... that would blend perfectly in their décor," he said. "Style has become a very important factor in recliners."
The collection is the company's first venture into reclining chairs, and Godbout believes the new product will enable Dutailier to expand its dealer base to include retailers who sell recliners but don't carry glider rockers.
