MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — Industry veteran Gene Clark is forming a new youth and second bedroom resource that will launch its line at the October High Point Market.

My Home Furnishings will introduce four bedroom collections each containing between 15 and 20 pieces, Clark said. Three-piece sets that include a twin bed, dresser and mirror will retail from $799 to $999.

Groups also will offer full and queen sized beds. Other key pieces include desks, trundle units and other storage units.

Clark is president and CEO. He most recently was president of case goods importer Ligna USA and previously held executive roles with case goods specialists Vaughan-Bassett and Bassett Furniture Inds.

The company also has named James Millner as vice president of merchandising and product development. Millner was a former vice president of design at Hooker Furniture, who came on board there when Hooker acquired youth furniture specialist Opus Designs in 2007. At Opus, he was a vice president of design.

Millner said he was at Hooker for about two years. He then went to work full time at his design firm J. Millner Designs. He also has worked for Stanley, Magnussen and Lea Inds.

Both Clark and Millner said they are excited about the new line, which is expected to hit retail in early January.

"We believe given the recent changes in the industry and some on the horizon, we see a window of opportunity for a company with the right management and focus," Clark said. "We are not going to try to be the lowest cost producer, but we will offer values that make sense."

"It is always a good time to bring exciting product into the youth arena," Millner said. "The youth category will always continue to be a strong category. If we can bring good fresh product to that category, I don't think we will get weak. There will always be opportunity."

Formed in June, the company is headquartered in Mount Airy, where it also has a warehouse. In High Point, it will show its new line in space G-877 of the International Home Furnishings Center.
