Stearns & Foster offering high-end gel memory foam

LAS VEGAS - Luxury bedding maker Stearns & Foster is entering the memory foam arena at the market here with three gel memory foam models called the Monogram Collection.
S&F officials said the three models, retailing at $2,999, $3,499 and $3,999, are constructed from the highest quality materials and represent "the finest memory foam beds" in the world.
The beds incorporate from five inches to seven inches of memory foam and are designed to maintain the momentum of the Stearns & Foster brand, which enjoyed record sales last year, officials said.
The beds feature three layers of foam, with the top layer introducing S&F's new ClimaLux gel memory foam, a proprietary product that is fused with the highest grade of temperature-regulating Outlast material, officials said.
The Outlast material is more effective at removing excess heat than standard memory foam or gel foam alone, thus delivering a cool sleeping environment and a restful night of sleep, the company said.
The gel in the beds is injected as a liquid into the memory foam formulation and is thus diffused throughout the gel-memory foam material as opposed to being incorporated as particles or beads, officials said.
The gel memory foam has a burgundy color, a first for a gel memory foam, most of which is shown in blue to illustrate the cooling nature of the product. The burgundy look is designed to convey the rich heritage of the S&F line, officials said.
S&F officials said the new line should appeal to the growing numbers of consumers interested in memory foam feels.
"With the growth of the memory foam segment within the industry, combined with the record-breaking growth of the Stearns & Foster brand, we saw a great opportunity to introduce a luxury offering within the specialty segment," said Mark Delahanty, vice president and general manager of specialty bedding at Sealy, which owns the S&F brand.
"Our Stearns & Foster Monogram Collection stays true to its heritage of quality, offering all the benefits of memory foam consumers want while still giving them the quality materials and craftsmanship they've come to expect from the Stearns & Foster brand," he said.
The beds feature three responsive foam layers and are designed to sleep cooler while "conforming softly" to the body, officials said.
Underneath the ClimaLux gel memory foam layer is the UltraSense middle layer, which absorbs motion while conforming to the individual's size and shape and giving a more enveloping feel, officials said.
Supporting the body underneath that layer is the brand's proprietary UltraCore layer, made of a high-density Infinilux foam that provides a more supportive and energizing sleeping experience, the company said.
The mattress covers use silk and cashmere fabrics. "The Monogram Collection further demonstrates Sealy's commitment to becoming the premier competitor in specialty bedding by leveraging the Stearns & Foster brand to create what, in time, will become the foremost luxury specialty program," said Dax Allen, marketing director for specialty bedding at Sealy.
Each S&F mattress is designed and built in the United States and is made by certified S&F craftsmen. Because of the attention to detail in the line, it takes twice as long to produce a Stearns & Foster Monogram Collection mattress as it does to produce a regular memory foam mattress, officials said.
The S&F Monogram line offers gel memory foam at the high end of the market.
