Las Vegas to devote most of Building C to gift, home lines

In addition, 1.7 million square feet of Building C will be designated for the gift and home décor segments, allowing for the growth of existing gift resources and the launch of new product categories such as tabletop, home textiles and lifestyle collections.
The market now has about 500,000 square feet in gift and home décor resources throughout the campus, officials said.
Officials of International Market Centers, which owns and operates the WMC, announced during the recent summer market that a three-phase plan of changes will begin in 2013. In a press release, they said the plan "is designed to firmly position the Las Vegas Market as the most comprehensive buying platform in the western United States."
A greater concentration f complementary resources in each building will provide "a more effective, efficient experience for market participants," officials said.
"This evolution reflects how retailers sell and consumers shop today - everything they would envision for their homes and gift giving, all in one place," said Bob Maricich, CEO of International Market Centers.
Among the moves planned:
► As part of the Building C gift and home concentration, the WMC will present a collection of high-end home décor resources on floor C3, an extension of the fully leased B3 initiative launched at this summer's market.
► Las Vegas Design Center, with more than 40 showrooms representing hundreds of designer lines, will stay in Building A with a plan for future growth.
Tom Mitchell, president of home furnishings for IMC, said the plan "gives us ample runway to attract more high-end manufacturers to Las Vegas Market, creating meaningful destinations of better end goods - whether those showrooms are open daily in LVDC or for market only."
► Two new categories in Gift + Home will debut in summer 2013. One, called "c-One," will be a cross-category showcase of directional resources on the first floor of Building C. Also debuting will be Lifestyle on C10, which will feature "on trend resources" in categories including fashion accessories, personal care and fragrance, stationery, juvenile merchandise, pet products and technology accessories.
Officials also announced market dates for the next two years. In 2013, the winter market will run Jan. 28-Feb. 1 and the summer event will be July 29-Aug. 2. Dates for 2014 are Jan. 27-31 and July 28-Aug. 1.
