Carpet One fights cancer

Manchester, N.H. — Carpet One is introducing its fourth collection of pink ribbon welcome mats this month as the floor coverings store chain continues to support the fight against breast cancer.
The campaign raises funds for breast cancer programs through sales of the welcome mats. In the past three years, Carpet One stores throughout the United States and Canada have raised more than $340,000 for the American Cancer Society and the Canadian Cancer Society.
The seven new 2006 Pink Ribbon Welcome Mat designs feature the flowers and colors of spring. Carpet One stores will donate 25% of the price of each mat to local cancer society offices, earmarked for breast cancer awareness, research and advocacy.
"Breast cancer awareness is a very important issue and we are proud to support efforts to eradicate this disease," said Evan Hackel, president of Carpet One.
The mats are stain- and water-resistant and machine washable. They retail for $19.99.
The program begins April 1 and continues through June.
Carpet One is a cooperative group of over 1,000 independently owned floor covering stores in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
