Dupont adds FR line for bedding

Richmond, Va. — DuPont has added a fire-resistant knit to its line of FR mattress materials.
As with all of the company's FR products, the new knit has inherent FR properties incorporated into the fibers. The knit offers "durable FR capabilities that will help provide consumers with protection that will last well beyond the mattress point of sale," the company said.
DuPont introduced the knit to the bedding industry at the International Sleep Products Assn. Expo earlier this year in San Antonio.
The supplier said its FR products "offer a unique alternative to products that are topically treated with FR chemicals."
According to DuPont, the new FR knit product features multi-directional stretch capabilities that provide bedding producers with a material that can be easily processed, making it ideal for use with the visco-elastic and polyurethane foam mattresses popular in the specialty sleep arena.
DuPont FR knit material conforms to the shape of the mattress foam to allow the comfort of the mattress to be fully experienced, the company said. It said the material will help bedding producers meet the requirements of California's open-flame mattress standard, which set the stage for the recently adopted national FR mattress standard.
DuPont offers a broad range of fire-resistant materials designed for use in a variety of mattress constructions.
