Thurmo-Sleep offering bed for soon-to-be moms

High Point — Call it the Mother of all Beds.
Thurmo-Sleep USA introduced a high-end bed at the just-concluded market here that it says will allow pregnant women to find the comfort just right for them. The bed comes with three different visco foam inserts that moms-to-be can use to adjust the feel.
The foam-encased bed, with 884 encased coils, has a zippered top on one side. Mom can slide the visco panel of her choice in the center third of the bed, where her expanding center may need special cushioning.
The patented bed is called the Motherhood Mattress. It retails for about $1,999.
Thurmo-Sleep President Rod Whitney said the bed can bring welcome sleeping comfort to some tough-to-please consumers: "If you can make a pregnant woman happy, then you've really got something."
Thurmo-Sleep also introduced a number of other innerspring mattresses at market. Whitney said the move into conventional bedding is designed to make Thurmo-Sleep competitive with other multi-product bedding producers.
"We can't get the market penetration we want without a more well-rounded line," he said. "We know there is a lot of competition, but we feel we are offering more value than an 'S' brand could offer."
Thurmo-Sleep continues to offer the visco beds that launched the company. It also recently moved into a 100,000-square-foot facility in Archdale, N.C.
