Miles Talbott, B. Smith launching upholstery

HIGH POINT — Miles Talbott Furniture is teaming up with model, TV host, restaurateur and lifestyle diva Barbara Smith to launch a new custom upholstery collection called B. Smith Home.
The collection, to be introduced at the October High Point Market, will include more than 20 pieces within six style families and 20 new fabric patterns. The styling will be contemporary with a variety of trans-cultural influences.
“That look is 'Afrasian' and it fills a void in the market,” said Smith. “It's about mixing the best in each culture to create something beautiful.”
The frames in the B. Smith Home collection feature clean, crisp lines with modern twists, she said. Rich colors and a multitude of textures and dramatic patterns lend a global feeling to the fabrics.
“The fabrics are a blend of Asian, African and Caribbean influences,” said Smith. “When paired with the sophisticated lines in the frames, the result is quite dramatic.”
“Our customer base has been asking for more transitional styles and her designs are stunning,” said George Jordan, president of Miles Talbott. “The creativity and energy that B. brings to our team is very exciting.”
The collection targets designers, department stores and furniture specialty stores.
In early 2007, B. Smith introduced a furniture collection in partnership with Clayton Marcus. That program has ended, but Smith continues to work with several other home furnishings licensees, including Surya (rugs), Picture Source (wall art), Roma Home Décor (mirrors) and Foster's Point (botanicals).
In addition to B. Smith Home, Smith's lifestyle brand includes the B. Smith with Style Home Collection sold exclusively at Bed Bath & Beyond.
