Linder's to close two Rooms Express locations

Recession, downturn in housing market to blame

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Top 100 retailer Linder's Furniture is liquidating two Rooms Express locations, according to a report in The Desert Sun here.

The furniture stores in Cathedral City and La Quinta will begin liquidation sales Saturday. Linder's officials said the recession and a downturn in the local housing market were responsible for the closing.

The showrooms represent about 200,000 square feet of retail space, the story said. The Rooms Express brand will no longer exist after the liquidation, it added.
