Kings Mountain, N.C. — Fabric producer STI is opening a 26,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Tupelo, Miss., that will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary called STI Fabric and Trim Inc.
President John Kay said STI Fabric and Trim will stock the full line of STI jacquard and dobby upholstery fabrics, as well as decorative trim such as cord, fringe and bullion from Phoenix Trim Works.
The company is ending its relationship with Huntington Fabrics, which has handled distribution for STI. "It has been a good partnership for six years," said STI CEO Sean Gibbons. "We need to control our own destiny in our biggest market."
Tim Posey has joined the company as general manager of STI Fabric and Trim. He previously was in purchasing at Lane, where he worked for 20 years.
Also, Jeff McGregor has been named an STI sales representative and will handle warehouse accounts in the Mississippi area. He previously was a sales rep for Morgan Fabrics, and joins longtime rep Lee Reed, who handles STI's direct import accounts in Mississippi.
