High Point — Registrations at last month's market here — the first using a centralized registration system — topped 100,000, according to the International Home Furnishings Market Authority.
The group said the final tally of 100,128 included nearly 50,000 buyers. The remainder was sales representatives, exhibitors, showroom staff and other support personnel.
"We believe these numbers demonstrate that the High Point market is the vital center of our industry — the place to be for everyone who is serious about the furniture business," said Market Authority President Brian Casey.
Of the total, Casey said 78,632 registered in advance and 21,496 registered on site.
"The counts are from our new centralized registration system, which delivers accurate results very quickly," he said.
In recent years, market organizers have estimated attendance at 70,000 to 75,000, including about 45,000 buyers.
