Flexsteel polls 584 buyers about future market plans

Des Moines, Iowa — Most of the visitors to Flexsteel's showroom at the Las Vegas market were not existing customers, and most said they'd return to the city for the January show.
But many of them will skip High Point.
Chip Piekenbrock, director of retail development for the manufacturer and importer, said the company surveyed 584 buyers who came to its World Market Center space to help it determine its future marketing direction. The results:
-
45% were existing Flexsteel dealers, meaning that a majority were potentially new customers.
-
79% said they would return to the Las Vegas market in January; 21% said they would not.
-
Only 37% said they planned to attend the High Point market in October.
Piekenbrock said the company wanted to keep the questions simple, so it didn't ask whether the Las Vegas visitors previously had gone to High Point and were now deciding to skip it, or just weren't in the habit of attending the North Carolina show.
The company will do further analysis to see what portion of the Vegas traffic was from west of the Rockies, he said.
