Harden Mfg. acquires Rhino Rooms assets

Will produce line in Alabama plant

Heath E. Combs -- Furniture Today, September 28, 2009

KILLBUCK, Ohio — Case goods manufacturer Harden Mfg. has acquired certain assets of domestic wooden bedroom manufacturer Rhino Rooms.

Harden will produce Rhino products at its Haleyville, Ala., starting Sept. 30, company officials said in a brief press release.

Harden expects the acquisition will expand its offering of promotional and wood furnishings. Harley Ostlund, president, Harden Mfg., was unavailable at press time.

According to The Daily Record, a newspaper here, Rhino was experiencing problems with bank loans.

IHG or Industrial Holdings Group, based in Dayton, Ohio, purchased Rhino Rooms in September 2007.

Last year, IHG made an offer to purchase assets of Higdon Furniture Co., but the agreement was never finalized, according to Ralph Higdon, vice president of the company. Hidgon Furniture continues to be family owned and operated, he said.
