Turner set to service new N.C. Ashley stores

High Point — Ashley store licensee Turner Furniture will begin working from a 60,000-square-foot distribution center here in July to service five planned stores in central North Carolina.
Owner Russell Turner said two North Carolina Ashley Furniture HomeStores are under construction in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, set to open in August and November, respectively. Turner hopes to open three more stores in the region by mid-2007.
He opened an Ashley store in Biloxi, Miss., last week and will open stores in Thomasville, Ga., and Spanish Fort, Ala., later this year.
Turner's company, based in Thomasville, Ga., also has Ashley stores in Mobile, Ala., Pensacola, Fla., and Tallahassee, Fla.
The High Point distribution center will employ 50 people, he said.
