Tupelo Furniture Market sets 2010 dates
Three-day shows to run in January, August

TUPELO, Miss. — The Tupelo Furniture Market has announced the dates for its 2010 markets.According to market chairman V. M. Cleveland, the winter market will be held Jan. 22-24 and the summer market Aug. 20-22, both in a Friday to Sunday format. The three-day duration is shorter than previous Tupelo markets, which have run for five days.
Cleveland said the decision to host the shows over a weekend was based on input from retailers and exhibitors.
"Most of the smaller retailers who attend our market told us that the weekend was the most convenient time for them to shop the show. However, we got the same input from many of the larger buyers that come here, so it was an easy call," he said.
He added that the decision to shorten the show also was based on input from exhibitors and retailers asking for a briefer and more concentrated event.
"The exhibitors prefer the shortest venue possible and retailers said they want to come in, hit it hard, then get back to the stores," Cleveland said.
He noted that the new dates were also selected because they won't pose a conflict with the 2010 Dallas Market (Jan. 13-19) or the winter Las Vegas Market, slated for Feb. 1-5.
"This gives exhibitors and retailers an opportunity to attend all three events without having to deal with overlapping dates," said Cleveland.
