Elk Grove Village, Ill. — Major bedding producer Spring Air recently presented special awards to key plants and executives.
Jim Nation, president and CEO of Spring Air, based here, honored three plants for excellence in quality for their performance in 2005. Spring Air Atlanta received the award for the Eastern region, while Spring Air of Columbus, Ohio, was honored in the Midwest, and Spring Air Salt Lake City was the winner in the West.
"All these plants achieved the highest scores for outstanding product quality and a spirit of teamwork and cooperation," Nation said.
Spring Air also honored two individuals for outstanding performances in 2005.
Steve Ewing, president of Spring Air's Phoenix facility, was presented the commitment to excellence award for 2005 in recognition of exceptional sales increases, outstanding product quality and a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
"Steve Ewing and Jeff Berg-man, the plant's owner and sales executive, exemplified Spring Air's appetite for rapid growth in the marketplace," Nation said. "This management team has had tremendous success over the last decade and positioned Spring Air as a market leader in the Southwest."
Also honored by Spring Air was Dennis Kemp, who oversees manufacturing operations at the Spring Air facilities in Salt Lake City and in Lacey, Wash. He was named plant manager of the year in recognition of his outstanding contributions and personal achievements in plant management.
"Dennis is a dedicated Spring Air leader who has taken over the operation of two Spring Air factories and done an outstanding job of integrating the operations of the two factories into a common system," Nation said.
The bedding producer, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, has 29 plants in the United States and overseas.
