Dan Kennedy resigns as Belfort Furniture president

DULLES, Va. — Dan Kennedy, formerly president of Top 100 company Belfort Furniture here, has left the company.

Belfort said Kennedy has taken another position in the industry but did not have details.

Belfort CEO Mike Huber will take on the responsibilities as president of the five-store, Washington, D.C.-area retailer, the company confirmed. In addition, Matt Huber, formerly vice present merchandising, has been named executive vice-president and will assume some of the responsibilities.

Also, David Viteri, previously manager of operations, who has been with Belfort for 12 years, has been named to the senior management team as director of operations. Rick Petry remains senior director of finance and administration, the company said.

Belfort said it is not seeking a new president.

Kennedy joined Belfort in August 2007 as senior director of sales, marketing and merchandising and was promoted to president in 2009.

In a statement, Mike Huber extended his "sincere gratitude and appreciation for Dan's leadership over the past six years. Everyone at Belfort wishes Dan continued success in his future endeavors."
