ST. LOUIS — Weekends Only Furniture Outlet has hired retail and merchandising veteran Jane Roberts as vice president of merchandising and sourcing.
She replaces Doug Cooksey, former general merchandise manager, who left the company. The general merchandise manager position has evolved into the new post, officials said.
Prior to joining Weekends Only, Roberts spent more than nine years in executive roles in the furniture industry, most recently as vice president of merchandising at Thomasville Home Furnishings. Before that, Roberts was director of upholstery merchandising at Danbury, Conn.-based Ethan Allen. She has 23 years of retail and merchandising experience.
"Jane brings a wealth of product knowledge and experience from her prior executive roles at both Thomasville and Ethan Allen, which will be invaluable as we strive to meet our goal of becoming a Top 50 furniture retailer," Tom Phillips, CEO of the five-store St. Louis-based company, said in a release. "More importantly, we believe Jane is a great cultural fit for us."
The bargain-oriented Weekend Only - open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only - is No. 85 on Furniture/Today's Top 100 with 2012 estimated furniture, bedding and accessories sales of $57.9 million.
