Hallmark CEO to receive top Icon Honors award in Atlanta

ATLANTA  — Donald Hall, Jr., president and CEO of Hallmark Cards, will receive the Icon Honors 2013 Lifetime Achievement Honor during a July 11 ceremony at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

Founded and staged by AmericasMart Atlanta and sponsored by the Gift & Home Trade Assn. and Sandow Media, Icon Honors "is the most anticipated and important night in the gift and home industry," according to an AmericasMart release.

The lifetime achievement honor "celebrates Hall's continuing contributions and leadership within the Hallmark family of companies and marks the Hallmark brand's iconic stature as an American enterprise of global reach and influence," AmericasMart President and Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Portman noted in the release.

Kansas City, Mo.-based Hallmark has been a family-owned business since it was founded in 1910 by Hall's grandfather. For more than 100 years, "the company has grown into an iconic brand that employs 12,000 and offers products in 39,000 retail outlets in the U.S. as well as 100 countries around the world," the release said.

Hall joined the company in 1971 and assumed his current role in 2002. He also serves as vice chairman.

"Don Hall Jr. and the Hallmark brand he leads are the very essence of American enterprise and ingenuity," Portman said.

The 2013 Icon Honors ceremony also will feature a performance by Grammy-winning musician Peter Frampton.

In addition, honors will be presented to home and gift retailers, as well as manufacturers, sales agents and service providers from across the industry. Finalists for the Icon Honors have been notified and the finalists and honorees will be announced at the event.
