High Point Mayor Becky Smothers, a breast cancer survivor, spoke at an event here Saturday and praised the efforts of furniture and home accents source The Platt Collections in helping to find a cure for cancer. She presented Larry Platt, the company's president, with a key to the city.
Platt manufactures the Furniture for the Cure collection and is donating 10% of the proceeds from the sale of each piece. This market, the company is introducing the collection's first piece, the Alyce Chair, named after collection designer Glenn Midnet's late mother, who died from breast cancer in 1974.
Representatives of Susan G. Komen for the Cure's local affiliate, Anna Eichhorn and John Richardson, also addressed the market event.
Platt shows at 200 N. Hamilton St., South Court 218.
